The new JES specification is listed below:
Type II - Sulfuric acid anodizing, Class 1 -Non-dyed, Clear sealant
This new specification will satisfy the requirement “anodized in accordance with MIL-A-8625 TYPE II, CLASS 1, NON-DYED” called out on the controlling document and/or purchase order.
The quality level of the anodized finish will be maintained for all of our products. However, this new specification may result in a cosmetic color change for some of your part numbers. The new specification produces a part that has a natural aluminum finish (see figure 1).
Prior to this standardization, if the sealant required for the order was not specified on the controlling document and/or the purchase order, the JES specification would be used. The JES specification did not specify the sealant to be used during the anodizing process and as a result the supplier would use their standard sealant. This process was acceptable, due to the fact that the sealant was not specified by either the customer or in the MIL-A-8625 Type II, Class 1 specification.

IMPORTANT: Beginning May 1, 2008 the new JES specification, Type II – Sulfuric Acid Anodizing Class 1- Non-Dyed, Clear Sealant(Figure A) will be used for all orders that do not have a sealant specified.
